English for the Workplace: A 6-Week Online Course
Do you want to speak better English at work? This course is for you!
This is a special 6-week class for people working in the USA. You will learn important English words for your job. You will practice speaking, listening, and writing. After this course, you will be more confident at work.
How the Class Works
This class is online. It has two parts to help your busy schedule:
- Study on Your Own: First, you will do 3 lessons on your computer or phone. You can watch videos and read at any time you want.
- Practice Together: Next, you will join a live class on Google Meet. You will meet with your teacher and other students. You will practice speaking the English you learned.

In this 6-week class, you will learn how to:
- Talk to your boss and coworkers.
- Write clear work emails.
- Understand instructions at your job.
- Ask good questions.
- Speak in work meetings.

Week 1: Getting Started on the Floor
Focus: Basic introductions, factory locations, and reading simple signage.

Focus: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and basic safety rules.

Lesson 1 (Video): Your Safety Gear Lesson 2 (Video): "Must" and "Must Not". Lesson 3 (Video): Emailing a Request. Lesson 4 (Live Class): Safety Checks.Week 3: Schedules and Attendance
Focus: Time, shifts, and communicating absences.

Lesson 1 (Video): Reading the Schedule. Lesson 2 (Video): Calling in Sick or Late. Lesson 3 (Video): The Absence Email. Lesson 4 (Live Class): Managing Your Time.Week 4: Following Instructions
Focus: Action verbs for manufacturing and asking for clarification.

Lesson 1 (Video): Factory Action Verbs. Lesson 2 (Video): "Can you repeat that?" Lesson 3 (Video): Reading Work Orders. Lesson 4 (Live Class): The Assembly Line Game.Week 5: Reporting Problems
Focus: Identifying when something is wrong and alerting the right people.
